We are proud to announce that brwsr is now in beta. While it seems like brwsr just came to be, the story behind it dates back to 2013 when TVersity launched a cloud browser solution for set-top boxes and smart TVs. By 2019 the cloud browser deployment base grew to many millions of pay-TV households. In a parallel universe, Gartner identified web isolation as a critical security technology in 2017 and in 2018 released their influential Innovation Insight for Remote Browser Isolation, coining the term RBI:
Almost all successful attacks on users originate from the public internet and many involve web-based attacks. Security and risk management leaders can contain damage by using remote browser isolation to separate end-user internet browsing sessions from enterprise endpoints and networks. Gartner
By 2021 it became clear that isolating devices and networks from web threats is the most critical application for cloud browsers, giving birth to brwsr as a full-fledged Next-Gen RBI solution for end-users and corporations. This two years journey to create brwsr has lead us to this moment when we are finally getting to launch it in beta. We would like to thank all those who worked hard day and night, in order to make this launch a reality. If you wonder what makes brwsr Next-Gen, this is coming in another blog post, so please stay tuned.
Our friends at Faultline has a nice coverage of brwsr launch, for which we are very grateful.
